Who are the GED students?

GED Plus students are between the ages of 16-27 years-old and motivated to finish school and become more by achieving their goals. All GED Plus students enter the program with many strengths but several challenges. The majority of our students have faced setbacks that have prevented them from completing high school: past poor performance in school, trouble passing the MCAS, learning or behavior health challenges, substance abuse issues, teen pregnancy, homelessness, financial instability, living in single parent home, court-involvement or community safety concerns, or they have endured other barriers to education.

Despite these challenges, we recognize that each of our students is intelligent, talented, kind-hearted, civically-minded, and resilient – they have the ability to overcome life’s challenges to be successfully contributing members of their communities — but need the right supports.
