N. E. Patriots and United Way team up for neighborhood development

BOSTON – On Tuesday, October 18, several members of the New England Patriots will trade in their helmets and pads for a hammer and nails as they team up with United Way of Massachusetts Bay (UWMB) for this year's Hometown Huddle. This is the sixth consecutive year that the Patriots and UWMB have partnered for this event and the 32 nd year of the NFL/United Way partnership.

The Patriots players will work alongside staff from UWMB-affiliate agency ESAC (Ensuring Stability through Action in our Community), the City of Boston Department of Neighborhood Development Homeowner Services and teenage volunteers from YouthBuild Boston to improve the conditions of a 125-year old Mattapan house owned by Barbara Jones. The players and volunteers will be working to make the home more handicap-accessible for Mrs. Jones, who has been living with Multiple Sclerosis for 26 years.
