"Peace Throughout History"
Artist Statement by Roberto Chao
Serving as a backdrop for the Peace Garden is a sixty-foot mural on eighteen plywood panels entitled "Peace Throughout History". Painted by talented young artists from the Boston area under the direction of Jamaica Plain artist Roberto Chao, the project took six months to complete. The uplifting and stylish mural recreates a universal theme of peace and creativity. The mural pays homage to individuals and communities who are working to build peace on our planet. Viewing the panels from the left to the right creates a vision of humanity's vibrant search for utopia.
