The mission of the Norma F. Moseley Endowment Fund is to provide a continuing income source for ESAC in order to preserve and to develop new programs for the promotion of affordable, sustainable homeownership and stable communities throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

It is the intention of the Endowment to be perpetual in nature. This will be accomplished through the accumulation of principal and subsequent issuance of grants from income only.

Mass. Mortage Bankers Association Housing Advocate Award named for Norma F. Moseley.

Norma F. Moseley

In her more than twenty years at the Ecumenical Social Action Committee, Inc. (ESAC), Norma Moseley dedicated her life advocating for fairness and justice for all people, regardless of race, ethnicity, income, age, or disability. Her ability to foresee patterns of consumer abuse and other homeownership-related problems was a testament to her vision. Furthermore, her ability to compel organizations to become aware of these issues and to work together to fashion innovative solutions was a tribute to her passion for sustainable homeownership for families and communities.

Throughout her career and as a result of her many accomplishments, Norma Moseley was eminently respected as a tireless educator, advocate, problem-solver, and innovator. Prominent among her many awards and memberships are the Citizens Housing and Planning Association (CHAPA) Community Service Award, the Boston Fair Housing Commission Award, and the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless Award. Ms. Moseley also served as an original member of the Massachusetts Housing Finance Agency's Single Family Advisory Committee and was a longtime active member of the Massachusetts Community and Banking Council. In an effort to build on this legacy, Ms. Moseley established an Endowment Fund in her name. It is our mission to honor her memory by continuing her work with this endowment.

Funding

Funding of the Endowment will be through public and private, corporate and individual charitable donations from donors who support the goals of ESAC's Sustainable Homeownership Center and who understand and accept the socially responsible mutual funds in which the Endowment's principal will be invested to accrue income from which grants will be made. Over the next five years, beginning in 2001 through the end of 2005, the goal is to raise a total of $500,000 for the endowment.

Founded in 1965, ESAC is a community-based United Way agency that works to improve the quality of life for families and neighborhoods through its Sustainable Homeownership Center.

This fund is not in lieu of continuing support for ESAC's Sustainable Homeownership Center, but will be used to promote new endeavors, supplement existing services and provide an emergency fund for financially distressed homeowners.
