GED Plus - One young man plans for a career

“I used to say I want a job but now I am planning for a career,” states Joseph Williams, a 2006 graduate of the GED Plus program.

Joseph Williams, age 22 from Roxbury, enrolled in GED Plus during a time when he says “I didn’t see any way to get ahead in life. My vision was obstructed,” he remembers, “and I couldn’t see any future.” Out of school for two years and losing hope, Joseph’s mother encouraged him to call ESAC. Within ten months Joseph earned his GED. “I appreciated all the one-on-one teaching and extra help GED Plus gave me,” says Joseph. He then went on to Project X-Cel, a Boston program that helps young people prepare for college.

Today Joseph is enrolled at Roxbury Community College. “I am really enjoying school, especially my science classes,” says Joseph, “chemistry and biology have really peaked my interest.”

“If you are serious about making a change in your life,” Joseph encourages other young people to get in touch with ESAC. “They will help you turn your life around.”
